Phi's Phavorite Philanthropies Part Two

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation was founded in 1989 after Elizabeth Glaser, who was living with AIDS, lost her younger daughter to the awful disease. She made it her life's mission to bring awareness to children living with the virus. AEPhi adopted this organization as one of its philanthropies because Glaser was a sister in AEPhi.

The sorority's first annual 'PHIne Affair' was held in March of last year and was a huge success. Over $1500 was raised to donate to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. For just $10, our guests were able to enjoy food, entertainment, and the chance to win raffle baskets. We auctioned off raffle baskets with HBO DVDs, gift cards, and other fun prizes. Greeks and non-Greeks came to dance the night away to various student DJs. The theme was red and black (red for AIDS awareness) and every guest was encouraged to wear those colors.

It's not easy to plan one of these events, as Chelsea Gosnell, current Philanthropy Chair of AEPhi knows. She was the mastermind behind the entire operation. She got the vendors, made sure there was food, lugged all of the DJ equipment to the hotel where it was held, and was in charge of setting everything up. There was even a special PHIne Affair cake that one of our very own sisters created!

We hope that next year's will be even bigger and better! Don't miss out!
